Film screening and discussion – Ana Opalić, Noah Dalija Pintarić (CRO): Još jednom / Once again

Još jednom (Once Again) (2014, 62′) is a documentary film which witnesses the lives of five friends – four lesbians and a transsexual – throughout seven years, from 2007 to 2013. Ana, Noah, Mima, Helena and Ivana have experienced intense emotional relationships – they ended old relationships and began new ones, they fell in love and out of it, they disappointed themselves and others… and they discussed all of it among themselves and in front of the camera. We are witnessing the protagonists who, by being in the position of socially marginalized and discriminated against,  try to understand the nature of interpersonal relationships through their own »(un)successful« love stories.

The film, which, besides romantic relationships, focuses on friendship, activism and creative work, arose from the need of the team and other collaborators of the film to look at intimate relationships, through which they were moving, from a wider perspective. Through humour and self-criticism, this guerrilla documentary shows an interesting insight into the LGBTQ community, its specifications and lifestyles. By surpassing gender stereotypes, the film also exceeds personal experiences, and questions the forms in which the privacy of the protagonists is intertwined with the political and social reality which surrounds them.

In Croatian with English subtitles.

After the film, there will be a discussion with the director, Ana Opalić, and three cast members, Gabrijela Ivanov, Mima Simić and Ivana Kovačić.
In the Slovene, Croatian and English language.
