Red Dawns 2009, Anna Ehrlemark

Exhibition and discussion: 15 years of Red Dawns: Visual image of the festival through time

You are kindly invited to the opening of an exhibition and a talk with the co-founder of the Red Dawns festival, Nataša Serec, and a long-term programme team member of the festival, Tea Hvala.

It has been 15 years since the conception of the Red Dawns festival. To commemorate this event, we are organizing an exhibition, which represents an overview of the visual images that marked every single festival. The different yearly motifs of various artistic expressions will demonstrate how the festival has been transforming throughout the years – from the women’s pocket festival and international women’s festival to the international feminist and queer festival. As with the festival’s programme, the choice of the visual image for each festival is motivated by our agenda to give an opportunity for expression to young and innovative female artists who can represent us well. Throughout the years, numerous artists have represented the festival in various creative ways. Walk through the history from the first poster by Antja Shrimer and Dragana Rajković, from posters by Zvonka Simčič, Tanja Vujinovič and duo Phant&Puntza, through the legendary posters designed by Anna Ehrlemark, first one still in co-operation with Igor Hofbauer, and to the more recent ones by Leigh San Juan, Ana Baraga, Nives Marković, and this year’s from Ana Čigon.

In Slovene and English.

Exhibition will be open during festival events in Menza pri koritu.

Free entrance.
