Trash Kit (UK)

Prepare yourself for the first Ljubljana performance by Trash kit, a women’s’ trio from London underground! Their influence could be found in the English bands of the ’70s such as X-Ray Spex, The Slits and The Raincoats, but their music is far more than just a retro nostalgia. It’s a modern interpretation of unique and complex melodies, which also recall the excellent tUnE-yArDs and Foals (album Antidote). Rachel Aggs, Rachel Horwood and Ros Murray imaginatively and eclectically merge afrobeat, post-punk, indierock and art-pop. In all this controlled confusion of melodies and rhythms there is no room for heavy and distorted guitar chords, but the lead goes to the syncopated African rhythms and melodies with intertwined vocals or chanting. Until now, the girls released two albums: their eponymous debut was released in 2010, while the second album Confidence saw the light of day last December. On this European tour the bass position will belong to Gill Partington, since she will replace the pregnant Ros Murray.

Napravi mi dete (SI)

The Slovene band Napravi mi dete was regarded as one of the biggest surprises on our music scene in the last year. The critics described them as something fresh and different, comparing them to the Croatian-Slovene Lollobrigida or the South African Die Antwoord. After Napravi mi dete disbanded, the band’s vocalist, frontwoman and conceptual leader, Katarina Rešek aka Kukla Kesherović, continues with a solo music project under the same name. She has been singing since childhood, has participated in a choir, has written songs and lyrics, and has been a big fan of Björk, M.I.A, rap and hip hop, folk and Bollywood music. The electro-pop mutation Napravi mi dete insists on minimalistic metaphorical lyrics in Slovene and Serbian but also in English and Macedonian. Since Kukla also makes her own videos and animations, Napravi mi dete means to her more than just a band. She is an active and talented visual artist and a VJ.
