Feminist calendar strikes back with second edition!

On March 8th, Uprising Social Workers are introducing a new feminist calendar (year 159, according to their queer counting) with new important dates, overlooked rebellious, wild women and tumultuous events.

And with new photos, shouts, manifests and themes which have been pinching fierce vulvas for a while. The release of the calendar will be accompanied by the intervention into the public space, which will be appropriated by their bodies – because it’s the public space in which hierarchies and exploitation are expressed, which pushes women away, limits freedom of movement, and overwhelms with images of what we all should be like.

Therefore, they will go there where they are not invited, to intervene directly into the balance of power, and reject the mechanisms that seek to manage bodies. They reject the normalised visual images of women, they visualise new ones, different ones, such that liberate, push the boundaries, and offer something other than the sticker of a sexy pussycat. Uprising Social Workers reject the naturalisation of gender, the equation of women with nature, and domestic work as an integral part of the female body.

At Prešeren Square, they will wash the last plate, sew on the last button, and vacuum clean the last assemblies of dust for free. Brooms are intended for flying, not for cleaning, and girls should grow up into multiplicity, not into a predefined role of princesses or housewives. They oppose to the mechanisms of the state that invade bodies, eat us all from the inside, thus forcing us all to submit to their absurd and illegitimate rules.For long enough, women were ruled; our bodies are, up to our uteruses, full of the state, its surveillance, commands of the political elites and capitalist exploitation.

On Sunday, March 8th, at 11 a.m, a mix of performance, interventions and exhibitions will enable us to discuss how we can all overcome the role of the housewive, ruled one and sexy pussycat, and how to be liberated from those images through communal feminist action. Come and join us!
