Lecture with photographs

Marie Dion (Palestine / Israel):

Feminist anti-occupation activism in Haifa

Marie Dion is a photographer, migrant, lesbian, feminist, activist and one of the founding members of the FORA organization promoting political awareness among Russian women migrants. She will be presenting the activist initiatives of women’s, lesbian and queer groups from Haifa fighting against Israeli militarism and the occupation of Palestinian territory. She will talk about the work of the Isha L’Isha feminist centre and the Women’s Coalition for Peace, striving for social justice and equality – and, of course, peace – in Israeli-Palestinian society, while continually calling attention to the violence committed against women by the growing conservativism. The lecture will feature her own photographs of local protests and actions.
