The team of the 22nd International Feminist and Queer Red Dawns Festival is not giving up on summer yet, and is extending it into autumn! So, in September, we will serve you a musical treat – an evening of rap music with Fraw Blanka and Žena, who will be accompanied by Sajkoslav (Mihajlo Milić) the behind the Dj table! We kindly invite you to join us on the 30.9.2021 at 20:00 at the Klubu Rečnih Kapitanov.
Fraw Blanka Fraw Blanka is the artistic moniker of rapper Kaja Janjić, otherwise also known as an accomplished contemporary dancer. Her beginnings on the local music scene are rooted in the hip-hop/dub trio Šlagwerk, but these days Fraw Blanka’s main focus is finishing her debut album Stranski učinki (en. Side Effects) with local independent label Munje Records. Fraw Blanka’s raw and energetic performance is accompanied by MC, DJ and producer Sajkoslav from Novo mesto, who is also the main man behind aforementioned record label. This year’s Red Cycle, Red Dawns festival’s yearly event cycle, has the pleasure of being the host to an explosive musical experience presenting new materials and unforgettable bangers of Fraw Blanka – Ljubljana’s finest female rapper. Žena Neža Mihelič aka Žena practically grew up on the stage, finding her love for art through performing in musicals, at the theatre and in dance venues. While studying Philosophy in Ljubljana she started devoting her time to rap music and writing her own lyrics. Between the years of 2018 and 2019 she collaborated in over fifteen hip-hop events (Rapetek, Hip Hop Reunion, Rap Domačica, Urbani vrt, etc.) and helped with organising youth hip-hop workshop Mladi Rapetek. With performances, music videos and singles Žena channels her freedom of expression and secures herself more than solid position in Slovenian rap scene. At the moment she is recording her debut album Generacija bežanja (en. Escape Generation) alongside another local rapper Janči.
