KUD Transformator (SLO) The Room for Women (Soba za ženske)

A play, which is not really a play

The room for women is an interactive performative event, in which the audience is invited to explore various interpretations of womanhood and to confront the woman with numerous names. The event is the product of a four-day long theatrical workshop, in which the participants and the performers explore their genders and bodies — in terms of how they fit into the society, popular culture, binarisms – and their innermost feelings. The workshop participants are women of different ages and professions, which contributes to a very varied starting point of the experiment. The room for women connects different scenes, based on personal stories and experiences of the participants, and the interpretations of the actual events from the media and popular culture, into a wider picture, together forming a picturesque mosaic.
