Violence in the Queer Community

Queer people can often experience systemic oppression and interpersonal violence from the majority cis and heteronormative society, but this does not mean that violence does not also occur within the community. We will open a conversation about violence in the queer community or on the scene (scenes?). First of all, we will ask ourselves what forms of violence we receive and/or perpetrate on queer people. We will then explain how dominant narratives about the occurrence of (sexual) violence have a blind spot for queer people and try to find possible ways to deal with violent behavior. Our message is: If we want to build a community, we must know how to build interpersonal relationships.
The content of the event is prepared by Rejv utopia, which works in the field of identifying and preventing violence, harassment and gender-based discrimination, especially in nightlife areas.

Participants: Petra Bolta, Nuka Horvat, Ula Krajnc Kušlan, Lana Križaj, Nik Kidrič
