A kaleidoscope of feminist representations of queer and F*LINTA experiences

Red Dawns is once again a guest at the Tiffany Club with our film program.

The selected films open up a space for critical distance from social norms, the dominant ideology and the system in which we live, seasoned of course with a more or less large pinch of eroticism and queer aesthetics. With this year’s selection, we illuminate complex social themes of pleasure, self-acceptance, self-image, capitalist destruction of the environment, sex work and trauma, and comic political satires of self-organized communities.

This year’s film program at the Tiffany Club brings a selection of experimental and slightly less experimental short films dedicated to the empowerment of women*, imbued with eccentric protagonists worthy of admiration. The films open up a space for non-normative sexual behaviors, which the films Objects of Desire and I Really Want to Get Fucked introduce us to. The program concludes with a queer plenum, Plenum im Tuntenhaus, critical of increasingly gentrified environments, inspiring the audience to be bold and uncompromising with an emphasis on the importance of community.

An intimate colour-drenched celebration of queer fat sensuality, ‘Object(s) of Desire’ is a slow & sweet invocation that combines queer joy, fat pleasures & friendship; all while provocatively questioning a fatphobic culture: “do you object?…or indulge?”

Špela (26), ki je zaradi limfnega raka prestala kemoterapijo, in njena prijateljica Hannah (26) se sproščeno družita v Špelini študentski sobi. Skozi njun pogovor postanemo pozorni na lastno krhkost in negotovosti, tudi ko gre za najbolj vsakdanje stvari, kot je videz.

A nonbinary transmen of colors journey and reflections through sex work, trauma without being able to get penetrated and the complications this bring with it.

PLENUM IM TUNTENHAUS, Lasse Långström, Germany, 12’46”

A quick insider perspective of the fight of the Tuntenhaus* in Berlin against gentrification.

**The Tuntenhaus in the Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg is a housing project for homosexuals. It is part of the formerly occupied house at Kastanienallee 86.

***This year’s film program of the International Feminist and Queer Festival Red Dawns features 17 short queer-feminist films from 13 countries, which will be screened in Ljubljana and Maribor in February and March. Three films from this year’s program, along with the winning films from previous years chosen by the audience, were already shown at the Anti-Valentine’s Benefit at Alkatraz Gallery on February 14th. The screenings will continue on March 7th at the Slovenian Cinematheque and on March 8th at Klub Tiffany. The program will also be presented in Maribor as part of the Red Dawns in Mariborl. The films shown at the Slovenian Cinematheque and Klub Tiffany are competing for the Audience Award, which will be presented in each individual film slot: at the Slovenian Cinematheque from 6 to 7:15 pm and from 8 to 9 pm on March 7th, and at Klub Tiffany from 7 to 8:30 pm.
