Lenča Malec: Orgy of Pixels Lenča Malec’s exhibition explores the aesthetics and politics of the poor image—low-resolution pictures that circulate in the digital age as reflections of the contemporary visual economy. The artist merges the aesthetics of pornography and pixel art, two expressive fields connected precisely through the degradation of the image and its uncontrolled distribution beyond the boundaries of capital and authorship. Through a voyeuristic perspective, the viewer catches intimate scenes, as if peering through a window into a pixelated, digitally dispersed orgy—fragmented yet recognizable from everyday virtual life. With this, Malec challenges the hierarchy of images and contemporary mechanisms of viewing, consumption, and voyeurism. High-quality, original images and exclusive content remain accessible only to the select few, while the masses exchange poor copies. Yet, the power of the poor image lies precisely in this—in its speed, circulation, deconstruction of authority, and the establishment of a new visual community. Democratic, participatory, and resistant to elitism, the poor image does not disintegrate but persists, scattered across the digital space. The exhibition will be on view until the 25 April 2025.
