Federico Protto: songs undressed songs undressed is an intimate vocal project by Federico Protto. Seeing the voice as a force of the acousmatic, the atmosphere crated in songs undressed is occult. Powers from the other worlds help in un-boning non-corporeal bodies, to become soft, but feral. Oscillating by the mysteries of love, Federico sometimes avoids technological means, like microphones, but welcomes dysfunctional, almost uncanny, yet sometimes subtle soundscapes to expose the sentiment in its uttermost raw states. songs undressed exposes a creature of liminality – a porous being that inhabits in-between spaces. This sonic project exists only in its live expression and leans gently on Federico’s larger artistic research MAPA exploring relationality in a queer and cross-continental state of being other in a world which is inevitably soaked in colonialism. Federico Protto was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. Federico is currently focused on multidisciplinary performance art in Brussels. He has a background in fashion design combined with further studies in artistic research. Besides of their performance activity, they have collaborated closely with sound artist Myriam Van Imschoot on experimental and social sound projects since 2021. Currently Federico has been curating a queer radio project titled ‘Ool Oom & Oo Oo’ at Latvian station Tirkultura. Federico’s previous work, ‘Formulas’ (2018-2022), explored electronic music, and its poetic echoes can be felt throughout this current project. Having toured cities like Budapest, Vienna, Berlin, London, and Antwerp, Federico continues to experiment with unconventional formats blending concert, performance, and audio- visual experience and experimental performance spaces.
