Traditionally the festival’s diverse feminist & queer program consists of concerts, performances, exhibitions, discussions, and film screenings all produced by or for female/queer/LGBTIAP+ persons. This year’s film program will include screenings of feminist & queer short DIY films and videos. We will be presenting short films that present alternatives to mainstream as a place where marginalized groups who are usually excluded from dominant representation find a powerful place of expression and re-appropriation. The films submitted through an open call will stimulate our brains, make us think, and raise questions about society and on how we understand sexuality, desire, gender, and lust. The Red Dawns International Feminist and Queer Festival wants to create a safe space to collectively discuss and reflect on feminist and queer perspectives.
