Nina Šardi is a young and unknown musician from Slovenia, living and working in Austrian Graz. She has been creating music under the artistic name JUNEsHELEN. She is interested in ambiental, electronic, and experimental music, which, combined with her mystical voice, creates an interesting emotional audio landscape. Because she is a passionate lover of both music and dance, she occasionally works as a DJ as well.

Concert

U pol’ 9 kod Sabe (CRO) at 22:30

U pol’ 9 kod Sabe is an eight-member band formed in 2009 in a Zagreb apartment, that of their bass player Saba. Their smart indie pop music is attracting ever wider audiences at concerts in Zagreb clubs, and they performed successfully at festivals like Cest is d’best, Vox Feminae, L-fest.
Indie pop meets cabaret in their funny and insightful songs. Since its beginnings, the band has embraced the activist agenda supporting various minority positions through their songs which, in the context of Croatian music scene, tell some as yet untold stories.
U pol’ 9 kod Sabe have authored a number of hymns of the local queer and feminist scene, songs like “Prihvaćam sve”, “Veseli svaki me kraj”, “Želim biti strejt”…  Acoustic activism is what they are all about.

While their first album (in the making) tells stories of Zagreb queer life, the second will probably deal with the lives of other disadvantaged social groups, eg. people who still read books 🙂
A video for the song “Prihvaćam sve” was made in June last year, directed by Noa Pintarić and Ana Opalić. This song topped the Radio 101 Cener chart for 8 weeks straight.
U pol’ 9 kod Sabe supports and enjoys playing with the indie band Radost! and the activist choir Le Zbor.

Band members:
Ana Opalić (keyboards), Martina Zvonić (vocal), Sabina Naranđa – Saba (bas), Goran Bogunović (electric guitar and ukulele), Marieta Bakota (saxophone), Olga Šunjara (acoustic guitar), Zrinka Kolarić (drums) and Ana Jurišić (violin).

DJ programme

Dot (SLO) at 23:30

Nataša Muševič (SLO) aka Dot is considered as the first Slovene female dubstep pioneer. She is also a music producer, singer, songwriter, record label manager and a multimedia artist. She moved to London at the age of 19 to study sound engineering and later finished her honours degree in Recording Arts from London’s SAE Institute. Her degree paper was on the subject of copyright law and artist income distribution, which led to her becoming an eager Creative Commons supporter. During her years in London she managed Immigrant Recordings with Subeena. This is the first dubstep record label managed by female producers with their own releases in the time when dubstep was yet to be considered as a serious genre. Under the alias Dot, she produced music, which was supported by dubstep promoters and DJs such as Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC1), L.D.(Rinse Fm, Transition), Chef (Rinse Fm, Transition), Elemental (Hotflush, Runtime) and others. She also collaborated musically with various musicians such as Brazilian singer Clara Moreno, beat-boxer MCZani, jazz ensemble ZED-U, saxophone player Andy Williams, drummer Pharoah Russel etc. Natasha’s work in intermedia art extends to collaborative projects such as Magnetic Matrix (with Marko Batista), Sonične Skulpture (with Boštjan Čadež, Marko Batista and Satja Lumbar) and Sonosthesia (with Jernej Marušič a.k.a. Octex). Her interest in multimedia art aims to include continuous research of sonic frequencies, which have always been the main focus of her creations. Her new record label Read Write Music is a Creative Commons label, where she released her first album Calling home (2012) and in this year the first compilation of Slovene dubstep is about to be released. She has also contributed music for a controversial Slovene documentary film Jaz sem Janez Janša (2012).
