Chill-Out Café/Reading Room

The chill-out café, hosted by Mizzart Gallery, is a place to relax, meet other festival visitors and participants, drink tea or coffee, check the internet for free, see the exhibition of kick-ass feminist and queer zines prepared by media activist, lecturer and zine-maker Red Chidgey (UK/Austria), and flip through the pages of many other feminist, lesbian and gay (maga)zines. Also available: free copies of selected ŠKUC (editions Lambda and Vizibilija) and Center for Slovene Literature (edition Aleph) book titles, written by women, City of Women Festival catalogues, and other publications. You are welcome to bring your own, too!

Red Chidgey is a feminist activist historian, zine lover, and believer in DIY energy. She works on the transnational archiving project www.grassrootsfeminism.net, spills the beans on “third wave” feminism in classrooms, and has special feelings towards feminist artifacts, stories and material cultures.

Supported by Mizzart Gallery, Elf’s Reading Room, ŠKUC, Center for Slovene Literature, City of Women festival, and the publishers of Girls Like Us, ProFemina, Narobe, Make/Shift, Women and Performance, Herstoria and other magazines.
