ŠUS (Slovenia)

The girly percussion ensemble (the first one of the kind in Slovenia) is a brainchild of its musical mentor and manager Dejan Tamše, a professor in music school Žalec. In 2005 he gathered five young percussionist in attempt to explore diverse musical repertoire by using various kinds of percussions, such as vibraphone, marimba, xylophone, bells, drum set, congas, bongos, timbales, hand percussion, cowbells … Today the group consists of seven members, who are formally musically trained. They have already had several concerts and performances in different events: art openings, galleries, shopping centres, celebrations, festivals and shows. And each time they have amazed the audience with their program diversity, spanning from classical to modern pieces. ŠUS won first prize at the International percussion ensembles competition in Belgium (Neerpelt) in May 2009, and a special jury award – cum laude. This will be their first performance in Ljubljana.
