Exhibition: Anahita – Women’s status and challenges in modern Iran

You are kindly invited to an exhibition Anahita – Women’s status and challenges in modern Iran on Saturday, 9 March, at 17:00, at Club Tiffany, ACC Metelkova mesto.

**********************************

Red Dawns festival welcomes the exhibition Anahita, taking the name of the ancient goddess of water, war, and fertility, as well as the patroness of women, to portray the situation of women in Iran who are bravely holding strong against the compulsory hijab law.

Anahita is a collection of photographs and videos, from 1979 until nowadays, of women who are defying the social and political norms.

Modern Iranian women put their lives in danger every day when they choose not to wear the hijab, that is enforced as a modesty obligation. In Iran, the hijab is used to control women and silence them politically. For a long time, Iranian women have been standing together for the right of choice. Anahita tries to capture that fight.

The exhibition will be open on the 9th of March, starting at 17h with a short presentation and closing at 22h.

Co-production/co-organisation: ŠKUC – Cultural centre Q/Club Tiffany.

Voluntary contributions.

Exhibition will be open until 22:00.
