Feminist storytelling evening: Fairy tales about the mischievous and bold

You are kindly invited to a Feminist storytelling evening: Fairy tales about the mischievous and bold, on Friday, 8 March, at 20:00, at Club Gromka, ACC Metelkova mesto.
**********************************

Since a long time ago, from places far, far away, people’s imaginary world has been filling up with stories, fairy tales, myths and legends. They put children to sleep, they connect a community under a mighty tree, behind the tavern’s counter they entertain, explain, illustrate and scare. Sometimes they also preach. And not uncommonly, they reaffirm traditional gender roles.

Stories that deviated from patriarchal social order were told quietly, while in the fairy tale canon collection they are simply – overlooked. But in the last few decades, things have changed. We are witnessing feminist and queer reinterpretations of classic fairy tales, while original fairy tales are being freed of the heteronormative grip.

At the event you are invited to come listen to original fairy tales, adaptations of folk tales and a true story with a fairy tale ending.

The stories will be told, played and sang by Teja Bitenc, Maša Budič, Anja Kocman, Alenka Spacal and Silvia Viviani.

Co-production/co-organisation: Club Gromka, KUD Podtalnica

Recommended contribution (storytelling + concert): 5–7 €.

In Slovene.
