SVETLANAS is an excellent DIY Russian hardcore / thrashcore punk band that was formed in 2009 in Moscow. Their music is loud, wild, fast and furious, while their performances are super-intense.

The band says that their songs do not talk about politics, but about basic human rights, while the themes for the lyrics are drawn from worldwide news, personal experiences and feelings. Since September 2014, they have been banned in their homeland due to their anti-state stance and political commententaries. The sale and possession of their music is illegal in Russia, and members are considered as enemies of the state and are no longer allowed to return. They are now living in Milan.

MATERIAL GIRLS only come out at night. The Atlanta sextet indulge in glam and goth while maintaining a percussive no wave edge. It’s a pointed balance, which is enough to summon the ghosts of CBGB and Andy Warhol.

The Siouxsie-inspired shrieks, nihilistic lyrics, uncaged performances, and inventive riffs are a part of the arsenal that alternates between squalling psychedelia and apocalyptic post-punk. Their album Leather is a study in contrasts, an illustration of Material Girls ability to deconstruct the tired tropes of punk while pushing DIY music to new heights of zoned in, drugged out chaos. On the surface, this experiment is artistic and abstract, but the visceral energy of Material Girls leaves no room for hazy intellectualism. They vomit on expectation with makeup smeared faces, toying with desire, and keeping the listener tied up.

HAK ATTAK is currently one of the most active Slovene punk bands and almost a regular act on the scene. Their raging tracks embody DIY speed-crust`n`roll from Idrija aka Motorfast HC punk. In November 2018 they released their second album entited Brainsore.
