Lecture: Intimacy of Comrades in China – Anarchist Insights and Queer Movement (SI/UK)

You are kindly invited to attend the lecture / presentation on Saturday, 11 March 2017, at 18:00, at ŠKUC – Cultural centre Q (Club Tiffany), Metelkova mesto.

A short stroll through the history of China in the light of imperialist invasions in the 19th and 20th Century reveals deep socio-historical changes in one of the world’s superpowers. The concept of individual or family intimacy in China has been transformed under the prevailing Western influences and premodern concepts about family and marriage. That the view is nicer from the edge will be shown in the short overview of anarchist thought from China, with relation to non-normative standards of intimate relationships, be it with different conventions about marriages, family, genders, and also referring to queer theory in the hands of anarchist thinkers. Some of them also speak in favour of anti-love.
